oil pressure at wot

when im driving on the highway, ill get 60 psi of oil pressure at around 70 mph. ill get at least 40 driving 30 mph on side roads. it idles at 20 psi. how come when i floor it, the psi only goes up to 40, but if i let off at the top of a gear it will go back to 60 untill the rpms drop off again? i have a 93 with a brand new high pressure pump.

Because your high pressure pump sucks the pan dry at WOT.

Time for a baffled race pan
