Oil Pressure Guage (Bad??)

Just wondering if there is an easy way to tell if your oil pressure guage is bad or whether your oil pump is truly going insane. I have a 93 LT1 and when the car is started the guage immediately pegs well past 80. I am wondering if there is an easy way to tell if it is the guage or the oil pump. The dealer I got it from said it was the guage but you never know.

Also, I know this part may be off topic here but anyone have any things to check on for nonworking automatic door locks. Occasionally when the drivers side button is pressed it sounds like something is making noise under the dash like a clicking sound. Maybe like a connection is being made but not continuing beyond that point.

If the wire comes off the sensor, or the sensor fails "open", you will get full deflection (80psi) on the dash gauge.

Oil pressure sensor failure or as Injuneer said, the connector came off.

Good luck, they are a bear to change, and you are doing it blind.

Do I need to look at the guage on the back of the instrument cluster? Or would I need to look somewhere else. I am okay mechanically and my father knows cars better than I do so if I know roughly where to look I am sure I can take it from there or my father would know.

He has a 93. His sensor is located on the drivers side of the block above the oil filter.
