go to the store and buy a mechanical pressure guage, and screw it into the back of the intake. Check the pressure to see if it's your guage. I believe minimum value is 10psi ber 1000rpm, it's in the shop manual i believe...........

I have had 4 4th gen cars and all of the oil press gauges did the same thing as you describe. This is normal for these cars.

Pretty much normal. I doubt you have anything to worry about. The mechanic is probably not familiar with LT1s. Your idle pressure is actually higher than a lot of people's. WOT pressure could be a little higher, but it might be the sending unit. The sending units seem to cause lower pressure readings as they age.

You checked out my oil pressure at the meeting yesterday, Mine has always been good and I have a bunch more miles on mine than you. I have seen the electric sending unit go bad before, I would take a close look at the sender, they are reasonable so why not replace it?

A low pressure reading at higher RPMs can be caused by 3 things: worn rod bearings, the oil pump pickup set too low to oil pan, and debris caught in the pump pickup screen. Have you recently had an intake manifold oil leak on your car fixed (as described in above)? If so, it's probable that excess RTV sealant has broken off and got sucked into the engine where it's now lodged in the pickup screen. This will cause oil starvation at higher RPMs. Ide try the sensor if you have the problem in the future
