Ok here is the deal. I have a rebuilt motor that was built by a reman company named Recon. The motor has about7 k miles on it and I have not had any problems with it until now. Normally my oil pressure is pretty good. Cold idle is a little over 40 and cold cruising is a little over 60. Hot idle is about 23 and hot cruising is about 42. Lately I noticed my oil pressure gauge has been doing some funny stuff. If I am at a stop and give it some gas to move the oil pressure will rise to 40 and then drop real quick down to about 20 and then a second later it will go right back up to 40. I have revved it up in neutral from a stop and it is perfectly normal. Sometimes when I come to a stop the guage will say about 38 and then drop real quick to about 20. It seems as if the RPM's are pulling the pressure down and then it regains itsself and shoots back up. I dont think it is worn bearings bc for god sakes the thing only has 7k miles on it and I have changed the oil like 5 times since start up. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic in it. It has come to my attention that the oil pump pick-up might have come off but from the way it acts and from other peopls symptoms that actually did have there pick up come off this doesnt seem to be acting that way. We are going to try and hook up a mechanical guage to it tommorrow and see what it says. Thanks for any input, Dustin.

 

Found my problem. Aparently by low oil light doesnt work. Checked the oil today and it wasnty even showing on the dipstick. Added oil, and all is well now, except now I have another problem that I am getting ready to make another thread about. Peace, Dustin.
