What is the thread and size of the oil pan drain plug, and an approximate lenght of the thread?

1/2"-20 and threaded length is about 1/2"[there's about 3/8" 'farther in' that isn't threaded]
Motormite makes a magnetic drain plug p/n 65203

 

Thanx...I appreciate that...so then a 1/2"-20 oil temp sensor would fit nice I guess...with about 20mm(0.78") "probe" length would be ok....

 

I measured a plug I have on the shelf and the total depth [WITH a 'crushed/used' gasket on it] is 3/4" penetration [threads included] from gasket to end..
I am sure there is more 'room' in there, but how much?
It would probably be wise of you to change the oil, and while your plug is out, insert a depth gage,etc. and turn the motor over one revolution, to make sure you have clearance, before inserting an expensive sensor in there
[I have magnetic plug, but it's in the motor now so i can' treally say if it's longer than a stock plug]

Yep, I guess I'll have to look that up....so that the sensor doesn't become a part of the oil system
