Unhappy Oil leaking.....

OK,

so I did my intake leak fix a couple weeks ago... then had my clutch installed with a new rear main seal as well... well I noticed that my oil had went down from the top of "operating range" to about a 1/4 inch down but still in the "operating range" now what i'm wondering is.... could that oil have ran out when they did the rear main? or am i still leaking? how do you replace the oil pressure sending unit? this is on the back of the motor to the drivers side? i dont know what to look for or anything but i dont wanna ruin this new clutch already.... please help... i need to know what to look for.... i looked under the car the the oil pan is dry still. at least thats a good sign.... b4 the intake leak was so bad that i'd have to add a quart and then usually another half b4 my next oil change.... and is it normal for the engine to eat/burn a lil oil b4 the next oil change? i have 82k on the clock.....

thanks,
keith

Well, how long has it been since you last changed your oil? That is probably the biggest factor here. There is no oil lost when you replace the rear main seal. Double check your work on the intake, feel along the back of the block for oil. Also look around the bellhousing for oil.

oil pressure sending unit is right next to the egr valve. there is a pic on shoebox's site go to the egr pic and u will see he put an arrow on the oil pressure sending unit its on the back of the intake manifold. i think thats where its at ill check up on it jus go to his site and look at the egr valve pic and you ll see it.

If there arent any visible leaks then I would say youe engine probably consumed it, All the cars I have had usually used a quart between oil changes and had no visible smoke out the pipe, also how soon after it was running did you check it, it tales a few minutes for all the oil to drain back into the pan, if there are novisible leaks and not alot of smoke coming out the pipes then I wouldnt be worried. As far as the sending unit, if its not leaking and its reading ok I would see no need to change it. But I have found it easiest to use the apprprite sized deep deep socket (12 point), of course first remove the electrical plug then put the socket on, with a short extention you have about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of movement so it will take a little to get it out.
