oil leak from valve covers

hey, has anyone had trouble with oil leaking out of the top holes (the bolt holes) on the valve covers? mine seem to be. what can i do to fix this? as far as being tightened, they seem tight. i dont know what the specs are for how tight they are supposed to be so i'm not gonna crank down on them just yet. if anyone knows this also, it would be appreciated.
thanks
dave

both sides of mine are leaking from the bolts. They are tight as well. should i just buy new bolts for the valve covers? what would be the reason they leak even if the bolts are tight

I would do a search and try to find the specs of how tightly they should be torqued down. This may be your problem.

Yea, I'm thinking you guys may be tightening them down too much.

i didnt search for tightening specs yet (ill see if i can find anything in a few minutes). as far as them being tightened too much, ive never put a wrench to the things. other than to make sure theyre not loose. like i said earlier, i didnt want to tighten them up until i did know the tq lbs. i wonder if i could cut up some gasket to put directly beneath the bolt heads (if the tightening thing doesnt work). actually a rubber o-ring would work good. kind of like the rings that go around the injectors. just a thought. thanks guys.

106 lb. in.

Could be that they have been tightened too much in the past and the cover is slightly deformed. Though, I think the tube that is inside the cover that the bolt passes through, may help to keep the bolt from being over torqued.
