Mine developed a leak where the dip stick enters the block. I cleaned and put a bead of black RTV around it..problem solved on mine . Hope yours is this easy. I caused the problem when the dipstick tube was removed to install headers, I think?

Get a dye kit. Clean everything up with brake cleaner under the hood on the engine where the oil is. Then put the dye in the oil and let it run until hot, about 10 to 15 minutes. Don't drive it, just let it run. Then, shut it off and make sure it is dark, in a garage or driveway without lights and look around with the little black light that comes in the kit. You will see the oil glow and where it is coming from. That's how I have found several oil leaks. You can get the kit at Oreily Auto parts or any auto parts.

Same thing's happening to me and I'm about to go out and fix it soon. I have a Lokar dipstick and its spitting out the base onto my header as far as I can tell. Only at higher RPM where the crankcase is pressurizing a bit.

Re: Oil Leak need help ASAP!

HOW interesting.

The dipstick. I made a post about my very bad oil leak earlier, and someone suggested I check the dipstick. And it is 99% on the pass. side header and
ypipe. When I mean headers, I mean it is towards the bottom of the header.
You wouldn't be able to see the oil mess if you just popped the hood and looked. You can only see it if you look under the car. Which is what has me worried.

How hard is the dipstick to get to?

I did LT's on the car about 3 years ago or so. Why would it take so long to be a problem now, if it is the problem??

HOW much oil did you lose from the oil dipstick being loose??

Hope to get more info!

Hmmm.....

This sounds like my car. I am going to have to look into that dipstick idea, thanks.

Re: Oil Leak need help ASAP!

The leak I had was from the dip stick tube where it enters the block. I had removed the dipstick to install headers. The leak is very deceptive because the oil drips down the side of the block on the starter and blows back around the bell housing & transmission even off the oil pan. Wash the engine and let it dry then put the car up on ramps or jacks, start it up and rev it up to 2500-3000. Watch for oil seeping out around the dip stick tube where it enters the block. That is how I found my leak. To fix the leak clean the area with brake clean and put a bead of RTV black OEM grade silicone arond the dipstick tube. Good luck and hope this info. helps...

Wow, that is good info! I haven't been able to look at the car on the lift yet, that is why I am trying to figure out if the dipstick could be the problem, or if the breather I had on damaged the PCV system.

The dipstick sounds more likely. But I don't see how it could get loose after 3 years. But mentioning it being deceptive, that makes a lot of sense to me in this case, b/c this leak is sneaky, it only happens while driving, and it is 80% towards the pass. side. I can only see the oil on the pass. side of the header and ypipe. Of course the tranny pan is covered. That was such a nice polished alum. pan. Stuff I had to clean and paint all over again.

I will let you know!

Anyone else that had the dipstick issue, would be great to hear from you!
