EGR Blockoff Help

I'm looking at getting an EGR Blockoff since I've replaced my EGR about 2 yrs ago and it's already giving me a code and is very stiff.

Someone is selling two plates for the intake and one plate for the exhaust manifold. Some are without the exhaust manifold. Is that something I need or don't need/want for my car? Where do the extra plates go? I've just installed the EGR before.

Thanks in advance.

Re: EGR Blockoff Help

If you have headers that don't have EGR part on them then you don't need the exhaust part.

If you have stock manifolds you will need that exhaust block off plate.

Also you will need to delete the EGR out of your computer or else you'll throw a code. Look to a local f-body club for help with that, or buy a cable and order a tune from a vender like Madz28.com or PCMforless.com

The manifold is all stock so I will order that part. Where do the plates go other then the one that will take the place of the EGR valve?

I know there wasn't much room so I am unsure where it goes.

There are two on the back of the intake. One goes where the egr valve was and the other goes where that little hose that connects to the manifold is. So one should go no both ends of the little silver flexpipe and one should go where the egr valve was Have fun man. They are very wasy to install

I've got extra plates w/gaskets if you want them for a reasonable price. PM me.

Re: EGR Blockoff Help

Note corrugated tube connecting the exhaust manifold with the back of the intake manifold. Tube gets removed, need to block of the intake hole and the exhaust manifold hole. Or you could just sandwich a thin piece of metal between the corrugated tube and the intake manifold to block off all flow, and leave the EGR valve where it is = "0" plates required (other then the one you can cut out of a soda can) - photo courtesy of Shoebox:

As noted, if you're already getting a code with the EGR valve functioning, most likely the code will remain after you disable the system.
