Oil leak in my 94Z

Well I went ahead and took the intake manifold off and put new gaskets and RTV sealant on. I let it cure for 24 hours and I thought the process went smoothly. I used Permatex Ultra black RTV and let it set up before I put it on. I did not move the manifold around at all, I put it directly on, perfectly. Well now, instead of the oil leaking from the back of the manifold, it is leaking somewhere else. I don't know where, but it is dripping onto my exhaust manifold's/cat converter now and I am afraid of a fire. Any suggestions on where the new leak is coming from?

I am assuming that it is leaking towards the back of the engine. Have you checked your valve cover gaskets? If your intake is not leaking, that would be the only other place (valve covers) that oil would leak from a high point as you are describing. Good luck,

Oh yeah, I forgot about the oil sending unit. I guess it could be leaking as well. Not typical unless you have removed it or damaged it.

when you remove the intake, it's very easy to move the sensor.. if you do, it will almost guaranteed leak as the teflon tape will not make a good seal.. reach back there and if you can move the sensor (and its adapaters) you should remove and reinstall it with new teflon tape.. Remember, they are pipe threads..

later!
