Unhappy oil leak from intake

Can someone tell me about the intake on the lt1? I have a oil leak coming from the front and back of the intake. My question is, does the engine have to come out in order for this leak to be fixed or can it be fixed with the motor in? My Z is a 95 auto with 150000 miles on it. Please, someone help me!!!

You can remove the intake with the motor in the car. It only takes it about an Hour or less to pop it off.

What he said. Remove all the electrical stuff, remove the four bolts on the fuel rail and pop it off of the intake, then 6 bolts on either side hold the intake down. Pretty simple job.

Yes it is. Remember to get some high grit sand paper and sand all sides (a little) which rtv is used. That will fix it for good.

I would not use any sandpaper. you take a high risk of getting abrasive material into your engine via the lifter valley. stuff towels into the intake & exhaust ports, and lay down more towels in the lifter valley. Just scrape the surfaces real good w/ a razor scraper. Be careful not to gouge the aluminum head surfaces. Then clean any residue off w/ Acetone or brake cleaner. Barium (sp?) B12 works good too.
also use a good intake sealant on the front & rear. I've had long term issues w/ RTV, they eventually leaked again. I now use Permatex 'The Right Stuff' gasket maker. comes in a black cheeze wiz type can. It is awesome stuff. I'd also recommend getting GM gaskets instead of felpro etc. If you compare the two you'd see they are significantly different. Also, I've had 1st hand experiences of the felpro gaskets overlapping into the intake ports (bad for performance!), poor alignment.
The 1st time out the job will probably take you 4+ hours. half of that seems to be the cleaning process.
