oil leak after cam install - suspecting water pump drive seal
Ok, after running the car for about 40 miles, I noticed an oil leak on my 93. I remember kind of messing up the WP seal on the timing cover when I put it on, so thats probably what it is.
I saw a small bit of oil when looking from the bottom, on the bottom of the opti.
But, what gets me is where the oil is dripping down. It looks as if there is oil dripping from above the passenger side O2 sensor on my headers (right under what I think is the starter), then onto my y-pipe, and off of that onto the ground before the catalytic.
Just recently noticed the small bit of oil up front under the timing cover area.
Now if I pull the WP off, I dont want to spill coolant on the Opti (it's brand new!). Should I open the block drain plugs? What else can be done to protect the opti? I am so paranoid about that thing.
Do they have any kind of a warranty either?

Damn that sucks, I am almost done with my cam install now too and I may have messed up the seal for the water pump too, I am not sure if its enough to affect it at all, but it could be. Just out of curiosity do you know where I could get a water pump seal if that is a problem?
As far as taking the pump off, you shouldn't NEED to pull the drain plugs, when I took my old water pump off I didn't drain it and I didn't get a drop on my opti. Just gotta be real careful. Just cover the opti with a garbage bag or something and the water should run right off it, plus when I pulled the bottom bolts holding the pump on a lot of the water came right out of the holes.
