oil leak
oil leak
hey been a member for a long time but usually dont post much , heres the problem i bought my 97 ss about two weeks ago , today i come out of the gym and as i pull out i look in the parking spot and theres two side by side fresh oil spots from right underneath where the engine was, both a little smaller than the size of a fist, the car only has 60 thousand miles on it . any problem areas that would leak around this many miles ? thanks for the replies
Re: oil leak
Leaks around the intake manifold are by far the most common, with the rear main seal also a possiblility. Try cleaning up your engine a bit, then getting under there to find the spot.
Re: oil leak
Probably intake, worked for a Pontiac dealer when the LT1's were new. I have seen intake leaks on cars with as low as 2,000 miles, the factory didnt seal them well. I have resealed the intakes on both my cars and they are leak free. But I will mention my Z with 131,000 miles has leaked in other areas also.... water pump drive seal, opti seal, the low oil level sensor, and oil cooler O ring-to block seal.
