The oil gauge on my 96 Z28 suddenly shot as far left as possible and it will not come back or budge at all. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, how can it be fixed? Also the low coolant light is stuck on, but i have checked the coolant multiple times and it has even been too high. Does anyone know how to get this light to work properly again? Thanks in advance.

Check the connection to the oil pressure sending unit, if its fine replace it, if I remember correctly, the oil pressure will sit at 0 when its not working, and the coolant will shoot all the way up when its not connected.

Either that or you have no oil pressure

 

Was the coolant light on before the oil gauge problem???? If so, that's a common roblem with these cars. They always go out. All I did and a lot of people here is just disconnect it and let it hang. As long as you check your coolant level and have no leaks you don't really need it. Thats more for......dare I say.....women who don't even know what oil is. LADIES on the board....no offense but even you know what I'm talking about.

As for you oil light. It might just be a bad switch or disconnected switch. If you had a problem with your oil pressure it wouldn't just drop and stay at zero unless your oil pan feel off.

be careful... it was made to go far right when its not working... (like mine) they make it go far left so ur check gauges light doesnt come on...

also if its not grounded, it will make it go far right, but never heard of far left hmmm
