Oil Filter Leak

I've tracked an oil leak to the oil filter (using engine dye). This will be the second time this has happened--the other was diagnosed by the dealer a couple years ago. But based on the dime sized drips under my car, it's never stopped.

I'm using either Mobile 1, AC or K&N Oil Filters. There is no residual gasket material on the oil filter plate. I'm applying a little oil to the gasket on the filter prior to installation.

I had the oil cooler off when I installed my headers last summer and I'm sure it's on tight.

Any idea why I keep leaking oil from here? Is there a gasket between the filter and the block? Or anything else in that vicinity that could be leaking?

Thanks!
CL

There is no gasket between the cooler and the block.

I would drop the oil cooler and clean everything up and put it back together with a clean dry surface and see if that helps.

There may not be a gasket between the adapter and the block, but I believe there is a gasket between the cooler and the block (like an oil filter gasket).
