Oil everywhere??
Oil everywhere??
Just noticed I'm driving around and all of a sudden have a lot of oil on top of the passenger side valve cover. I can't tell for certain where it's coming from but in only 2 minutes there's a lot of it.
The oil cap is sealed tight and it doesn't appear to be coming from that.
The dipstick is a little suspect but why would it be coming all the way out of the top of the dipstick.
If the tube that goes from the valve cover to the TB leaked would that cause such a mess? That's a possibitilty but I didn't think that much oil went through there.
Is there something major that is causing it to come out so much on everything?
The oil pressure is fairly stable at the first line and then the middle line off idle.
Any ideas? I have to drive 40 minutes tonight to make it to the first class of semester or I get dropped. I won't make it if I still have this leak and can't figure it out before then.
I really think it has to be the dipstick as that's the highest oil related part but would it normally come out of there so much if the seal was bad on the stick?

same problem
I've been having the same problem. I'm pretty sure it is from excessive blowby. I've got 120k on my engine so thats pretty likely. The PCV system can not keep up with it. The pressure build up and pushes oil out. Nothing you can do about it except rebuild i guess.
Check your PCV system, make sure your valve is in working condition. Take it out and see if there is vacum. Pull it off and make sure it rattles.

Ok in case anyone has this problem here was my solution. It was the line that goes from the pass. valve cover to the Throttle body. It was totally clogged up and creating too much pressure in the crank case which relieved itself right out the oil dipstick tube.
