What should I use?

Ok my car is parked for winter (-50 Celcius with windchill right now) so its not going anywhere but I'am currently collecting everything I need to get it ready in the spring. Right now my motor uses dino oil and I want to switch to synthetic. I have narrowed it down to a few choices.

Either:

Redline 5W-30
Redline 10W-30
Redline 5W-40

Or

Mobil 1 5W-30
Mobil 1 10W-30

This car isn't drove in the winter time so usually the temps are around 5 Celcius to 35 Celcius.

I was kinda think towards either Redline 10W-30 or RL 5W-40.

What should I do or not do?

i personally use the mobil 1 5w-30. I drive the car in the same conditions as you and have no problems with the oil. IMO mobil is great stuff, never used red line tho.

If your leaning to Redline, then I would go with the 10-30. Thats what I'm gonna use come next change.

I have been reading lots of good info over at bobistheoilguy.com or whatever the site is called and Redline and Mobil 1 oil are comparably the same in everyday street driving but it is high rpms that the Redline holds up better. Will it hurt my LT1 to run RL 5W-40? So far it seems to be the best for minimal engine wear but I don't want to run a oil that is too heavy and make my motor knock. Anyone run this oil in a LT1 before?

I think Redline 5w40 would be an excellent match for the LT1, it's a very good oil. I don't think it would be too thick at all.
