Oil changing to dark brown 2 early

I did an oil change about 1550 miles ago and it's already like dark brown...and I'm using Mobil 1 5W-30...should I change it to 10W-30? What do you think is happening?

the dark color you see in oil (normally) isn't due to dirt or contaminates, its what happens to the oil due to heat cycling, and its perfectly normal.

Oil color means nothing, even when oil darkens quickly it can still do a good job. Diesel engines instantly turn their oil black, but most diesel trucks go tens of thousands of miles on the same oil. (of course they have HUGE oil sumps too, which helps a lot)

It is possible you could have an intake leak. I assume you are asking because it didn't used to turn color so quickly and now it does.
