oh so happy!

Well I got home yesterday and there was a Summit Racing box waiting for me to get home. My hypertech thermostat was there. I bought a 160 degree one for my own piece of mind. I am hopefully going to have a chance to install it by the end of the month.
I want to change out the temp sensor on the fans, any ideas or suggestions on what brand I should use because I am thinking of going with hypertech here as well.

Are you talking about a fan switch that cycles the fans on at lower operating temps? Hypertech doesn't make an aftermarket coolant temperature sensor.

I meant to say aftermarket coolant temperature sensor. Sorry. I know Hypertech makes a fan switch for the third gens, not sure about the 4ths. SLP does make one for sure though for around 80 bucks.

if SLP makes one I vote for that the hypertech takes some skill to make it work

Better yet..do it with a tune and save the loot, also don't the tuners do budget stuff? fans speedo and other constants for like $75
seems like a better deal

In case you don't have a procedure to swap the thermostat, Shoebox has a good one here: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#thermostat_change

The key is to bleed all the air out of the system after the swap.

thanks guys!
I know that it may be a little maddening.. but atleast I am trying to learn to do it all by myself. I really appreciate all the feed back. This being my first V8 its not really much different from any other motor...well kinda but not really. I really thank yall for all the help.

Don't go with the Hypertech. Get a tune from MadZ28.com or PCMforLess.com (I personally have MadZ28) and the car runs great with the cam. These guys can send you just about anything you need without the limitations of the Hypertech. Been there done that and sold it on ebay.

Send that PCM out for custom tuning. Mega bang for the old buck. Aside form the thermo... leave that Hypercrap alone. They're cool if you have soemthing like a truck or what ever... but on the LT1 best bet is a tune.

As already stated SLP makes a plug/play fan switch that'll do the job. Stay away from the Hypertech.

Other than mucking with shift points, unless you cannot understand the extremely easy instructions on the display then I imagine it can be challenging.

I know Madz28 does a budget tune for 100 bucks where you can pick 4 different items. At one time I just needed one thing tuned and I was quoted around 30 bucks.
