I got the obd-2 tricom from OBD-2.com and i can't get it to work. Do i need something else for it to work. All i got from them was the serial cable and the little black connector thing that you plug the serial cable to. Don't i just plug the black part into my car or do i need someother type of connnector to connect to my car and plug the black thing to that?

 

Just plug it into your car and your laptop, start it up, and then hit connect. You did enter the serial number right? When you purchased it you should have received a serial number and instructions how to enter it into the software to make it functional.

 

yeah i got it to work. Its pretty confusing though. But it did tell me that my number 1 cylinder misfired about 2800 times in a 29 min period. And my #8 about 280 times, #4 like 20 times and #2 like 4 times.
