Unhappy 96 Convertible to 98 conversion.

Hi I have a 96 black convertible and I was wonder how difficult to get the 98 front, any sugestions?? or shops I don't have much budget as far as i can go it's to San Antonio cuz i live on south of the border.

P.S I know it's going to be like a face lift to my car because it's the hole front don't you think it's kind of risky????

First try doing a search in LT1 Tech and LS1 Tech as this has been discussed quite a few times.

Second i will move this to LT1 Tech as general questions like these do not fit the guidelines for Adv Tech.

Thanks.

Just wondering but why would you want to convert to the 98+ front end on a camaro. I would see the point in putting on a 98+ front end on a Trans Am because the new ones look badass. But most people like the 93-97 front fascia better on a camaro. If i were to go throught all of that trouble i would just get a 98 plus camaro because then you would have an LS1.

Damn haha, didn't even realize he was a Z. Well, guess that link doesn't help much. Still would give an idea I guess, but I've never seen a write up on Camaro conversion. Probably out there somewhere.

Personally I like the headlights better on the newer Camaro's but don't like the "fish mouth" opening in the facia. I've seen some creative stuff done to make that better too though.

Well, good luck with whatever you decide.

lots of reasons why guys do that conversion, cost, with all parts need is 1500 bucks, many guys have lots of money in there older z28's and dont want to sell it, just want a newer front end to me it makes perfect sence, plus if they sell there old stock parts its even a sweeter deal, now go out and buy a new ls1 and see how much more money it will cost you

Sorry but i still dont see the point in a new front end if your old one is perfectly fine. You guys are acting like it is out of reach to buy an LS1, for argument sake i have seen plenty of 97 LT1 Camaros with similar miles and condition sell for the same or more than a 98. I am saying why spend the trouble getting a new front end on an old car when you could get a new car with a better engine, and interior. Just my opinon though.

well thats your opinon, but in my case for example, i have well over 10 grand in mods on my car with only 24k on the engine, no way would i get the money back if i sold it, thats why im doing the conversion, and to be honest with you ide take my modified z28 over a stock Ls1 anyday

I see what you mean by not getting your money back with mods. But why change the front fascia? It seems pointless and a waste of money.

Why not? If the guy likes the look of the new cars, but also has money invested in his current car, then he's better off doing it this way. I'm considering doing this to mine in the future too. I really miss the 98 Formula I used to have, and by converting mine to the same look, it makes me feel better.

I dunno, i just dont have the money to do something like that...i would say leave the front end alone, because if you reck it then you can get what you want. I do see why people want that 98 plus formula look thought...thats awsome...
