O2 Sensor Extensions?
O2 Sensor Extensions?
Instead of buying O2 sensor extensions is there anything wrong with just splicing wire to the sensors, if done correctly? I just have a hard time paying $42 from summit for 2 extensions...it's just wire and plastic.

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?
I payed about $30 for my 12'' o2 extensions at http://www.redlineperformanceenginee...om/lt1main.htm and definatly think it will be worth the money. And its just a little insurance from doing it yourself incase somthing isnt the same with the wireing you would be doing yourself.
Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?
If your skilled enough to splice, soldier, and heat shrink... then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Just dont do what I did. I did all that and didnt actually measure how much I needed first. Long story short I later installed the headers and went to plug em in and I still ended up 1/2" short
Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?
I extended my last O2 harness when I had SLP headers, but with the new long tubes I bought a pair of extensions. There's nothing wrong with doing it yourself and saving a few bucks.

Yeah, I don't exactly know how long I will need. I am switching to LT's with the O2 bung in the collector. I figured I'd do 24" just to be safe...
I just have a REAL hard time paying that much money for a couple pieces of plastic and wire. If they were worth it, that'd be different...but cost on those can't be over $20 per pair.

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?
Yeah go with www.ls1speed.com extension. They work perfect but like has been said.. go with the 12" and next length down or youll have them hanging everywhere. I have Hooker LTs and I wish I had gone the size under 12".

I gotta belive the total cost on a set of extensions is under $5....
Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?
I spliced wire into the O2 sensors themselves, I was not going to hack into the harness.
I crimped them just to see if it would work and I have had no problems since I did it, about 26k ago.
I watched the O2 counts on my scanner and they look the same before and after.
