O2 sensor or connector

My car throws a code about a mile after I hit 60 mph. Not crusing around town, only after I hit 60. So I scanned the car, and it said left side 02 sensor or connector. So does this mean I just need to buy a new O2 sensor?

thanks,

pride

What code did you get specifically? It might not be your sensor or connector per say.

I would check the wires and connector for damage or corrosion. If it looks ok, they you probably need a new o2 sensor. Get specific code, your front o2 sensors affect your air/fuel ratios, your rear ones only keep track of your catalytic converter efficiency.

You could always swap sensors from bank to bank. If the trouble code follows, then you know you have a bad sensor.

Why not just give us the EXACT code, so we can help?

Ya, Need exact code to help. the scanner says bank 1 or 2 not left or right. You could start by looking at the wires and connectors. They could be corroded or melted. Other than that we need the code.

Its not just an issue of left or right... its an issue of there being more than one set of DTC's for the O2 sensors. One set for sensor open circuit, one set for sensor lean and one set for sensor rich. The code can be the result of something being wrong, other than the sensor itself, or the wiring. Knowing the exact code makes it easier to make suggestions as to the possible cause.
