Now it smokes

Ok, heres the deal. I just did heads, cam and long tubes. The car initially ran great right when i first started it up but was rich as hell. After it got warm it would be hard to start. And eventually wouldnt start at all. I narrowed the problem down to the opti. I got a new opti on it and now it runs great and has much less cam surge except now it blows smoke horribly especially when i downshift, let the rpms go down and then rev it. Im so sick of taking this car apart. My dad says he thinks its blue smoke which means oil burning right? What are my possiblities? Most likely a valve seal? The bottom end only has about 5,000 miles on new bearings put in at 70,000 miles. I hope its not a ring that broke, they were replaced 5,000 miles ago also. I dont know if this helps but the rubber hose running from the pass. side valve cover to the throttle body bellows smoke when you take it off also. Please help.

With smoke coming out that rubber hose, you have blow-by. Do a compression check and/or leakdown test to see what is going on. Doesn't sound too good as far as piston sealing goes.
