How much of a tune will i need if any?

My motor will have to bored out to .040 due to my broken valve head running through my motor. anyway i'm wondering how much or a tune/if any i will need. my cam got messed up so i need to put in a new cam. the motor guy i know said he new someone from comp cams and was gonna tell him what i had and what he recommended. also i will be running a lil higher compression...not much though, i'm doin this because the valve head messed up the driver side head so it needs to be surfaced. or do you guys think i will be able to get by with the tuning i have now? or should i just wait till i get it dyno tuned? any info would be great thanks!

If you're putting the same cam in, I wouldn't think that you would need to get it retuned.

If you are using a stock cam, and want a tune, a dyno tune would be way overkill. YOu could spent that 400 on something that will make more power. But if you are replacing the cam AND resurfacing the heads, it sounds like a good time to get a nice lopey cam and have either head work done or just get some new units. IN any case, a good mailorder tune should suffice, i love my PCMFORLESS, and with a stock or mildly modded motor im sure that would suffice.

the cam i had in there previously was pretty lopey cam...i just thought with the boring out a lil bit more and resurfacing of the heads i just didn't know if a bigger cam is goin to be necessary but either way i'm not going smaller then what i had maybe a tad bigger. but now i think i'll be fine wiht my tune i have now...thanks for the info. but why wouldn't i want to get a dyno tune?

When the performance of an engine changes it can benefit from calibration. Hopefully your performance will improve, more power, more tuning needed.

Might want to post in the pcm programming section of the board to see who's in your area.

A complete dyno tune requires a wideband O2 sensor be used and I recommend the operator have experience with your model car (otherwise you'll end up paying for more time than you should have to.)

If no one is in your area I recommend Ed Wright. I've dynotuned for years and he is the only guy I've seen nail a program perfectly by mailorder.

Hope this helps,
-Christian
