Nonvented opti + H/C set up options.

I have a 94 LT1, and I am trying to get it underway with an LE2 set up. HOWEVER, I am running into the problem of the timing chain. The only aftermarket ones that work with 94's are $500 a set. The other option is to upgrade to a vented opti, purchase the wiring harness, vacuum harness, Timing cover, and EWP, costing ~$500. One last option is an LT4 ED timing set , but I have heard bad things about these.

Are there any other options?

dont forget about the pin that comes out of the cam must be longer to drive the newer opti, personally I would buy the cloyes set from orielly's and get a better chain and call it a day. Since you probally arent running a really high rpm it would work, but I would understand why you wanted to upgrade.

Cloyes won't work on a 94 from what I heard.

It will be spinning to ~6400 rpm.

The LT4 ED is not an option in itself. It also requires the vented opti conversion (but you would not need an electric water pump).

My LT4 ED timing set has been fine for 8 years with a heavy spring solid roller cam. And as Shoebox noted, you need to do the vented Opti conversion with the LT4 ED.
