No start problem/weather related

My cars done this twice in the past week now. Both times it has occured after sitting a long period of time in the rain. Both times I haven't had access to a fuel pressure gauge or had an extra set of hands around to check if I had spark. Last night I finally got fed up and just kept cranking on it, going WOT frequently so as not to flood it out. After a couple minutes I was able to get it to sputter a little and shortly after that it fired and started. After I let it run a few minutes I shut it off and it started right back up with no problem. Any ideas where to start? Has opti problems caused anything like this? Coil maybe? Could something be getting wet from the rain/damp air then drying out as I crank the motor over? Aaaaaaaargh

I had the same thing. One of my wires (coil to opit) was bad.

No problems if it sits in dry weather for the same amount of time. Fires right up like an LT1. Columbii = Columbus, IN. Land of Tony Stewart

Thanks, Ima gonna check that area. I was wondering if maybe it was in the coil or the harness plug to the coil, dirty connections maybe.

Possibly the opti is getting moisture inside.

Check every wire in the ignition system you can get your hands on. If you don't find anything externally, I would remove the distributor cap and look inside.

Humidity will collect on the plug wires and stop them from firing the plugs with old wires.
The moisture down in LA here is so bad that on occasions you can raise the hood and there is water on everything, like ya threw a 5 gallon bucket full under the hood after setting overnight. Your wires and opti have to be in good shape to take that.
