no start not firing
no start not firing
Hello everyone,
Well in the last few days I changed all my seals in my timing cover and replaced the timing cover gasket. I had the water pump, opti, timing cover, air pump, coil, hoses, and a few other things off, well I put everything back together, and now it turns over, but does not fire. Could it be that the wire from the opti to the coil is lose or what. Please someone let me know what is going on.
Thanks

Re: no start not firing
well I noticed that all three of my grounds broke, that ground by the icm and coil, they are the three round grounds, they broke off on the end, would this let my car not fire, and what is the easiest way to fix this, someone please help me.
Re: no start not firing
You need to pull a plug wire to see if spark is making it to the spark plug first.
If you see spark but its not firing then you installed the opti incorrectly.
If there is no spark then check to make sure those grounds are good again b/c that will definitely create problems. Then pull the coil wire off the opti end and crank the motor to see if the coil is supplying spark to the opti. If its not then check all your fuses like was mentioned above, then check to make sure the coil/ICM plug is actually plugged in and tight. If you do see spark then make sure that wire is plugged back into the opti really well for the best connection and insure the harness that plugs into the opti is well seated too. Try all that and come back.

Re: no start not firing
well i pulled the coil wire off of the opti and turned the car over, and it was firing there, well i pulled one of the spark plug wires off of the spark plug and there was no fire there, does that mean my opti spark is dead?
Re: no start not firing
If the spark plug wires are crossed, the motor will never fire, because it will knock the timing out, it will be trying to send a spark to the wrong cylinder at the wrong time.
