its either opti on wrong or maybe timing chain is 180 off...it happens to the best. I don't think you clarified weither you were getting spark at all the plugs...maybe you did, but its easiest to double check connections like said and then swap opti and go from there. Rockers would have to be pretty tight to prevent engine from starting....in my opinion...but thats another option...Good Luck

Had the same problem with my car. My rockers were adjusted badly by the first person I had do them which resulted in 9 bent chromoly pushrods!! The opti was also on wrong (converted mine to the 95+ as well). Like everyone else I would vote for one of those two... I would be willing to bet it is the opti though. Make sure your plug wires are on right too, just to make sure...

And I second that. Doesn't matter where it is. I guess the last hundred I did were wrong too.

im going with the opti on this one. even if its installed wrong you could very well be getting sparks from it so keep that in mind. just take it off and make 100% sure it on correctly. just incase you forget.. you can still fire up the car before buttoning it all up incase that opti is toast

I heard that with 95 vented opti's they they can be put on wrong but how can unvented 92-94 opti's be put on wrong???

COnsidered when you look at the coupling, its keyed one way??

Does it have to do with the splines in the motor that it could be off a tick or 2??

I just went by the GM shop manual and that was the procedure...everything worked fine for me. I thought it would make no difference either but I did it that way anyway.

You can't . They only go on one way due to the splined essentric.
