No Start, Code: 15 ECT

My car will crank but, will not start. Started cutting out on me at all RPM. Made it home, but now will not start. Only code is "15 ECT". Is this referring to pcm coolant temp. sensor or the gauge sensor? Will this cause a no start condition.

15 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit (signal voltage high, low temperature indicated). I got this from shoebox's page, but I'm not sure but I'm interested myself b/c my car won't start right now and I checked a lot of stuff today it's almost to the point where I'm stumped.

Re: No Start, Code: 15 ECT

If the PCM is getting a false low temperature from the coolant temp sensor, its going to assume the air is exceptionally cold, and increase the A/F ratio to a very rich level for startup. If it really isn't as cold as the coolant temp sensor is indicating, the engine will flood from the excess fuel, and be difficult to start. When you try and start it, hold the accelerator pedal firmly on the floor. That puts the PCM in "clear flood" mode, and it cuts back on the fuel, possibly enough to allow it to start.

Obviously, the problem will go away when you replace the sensor in the water pump housing, or check the wiring for an "open". A resistance of 100,000ohm or higher in the circuit will tell the PCM the air temp is -40degF.
