No start after cam swap...

Well i got the motor back in the car and everything hooked up but when i go to try and start it the crank turns, valves move, but it won't start. It sounds like the starter is free spinning and not ingaging the flywheel but the flywheel is spinning? My battery is low could that cause this? It backfires out the exhaust a few times then did nothing but turn. I am not hearing any kind of compression or valvetrain noises either but the valves are moving..

You pulled the motor for a cam swap? Is a cam swap all you have done? If that is all and it ran before the only thing it could be is no spark plugs timing chain is off maybe rockers way to tight. You might want to give a little more info about all the work you have been doing to the car.

Fixed some leaks, rebuilt tranny, 847 from a 306, new clutch. After thinking about it the rockers may be so tight that the valves are stuck open causing loss of all compression? Because it has spark and fuel, just isnt firing and the starter is spinning way too fast it seems due to the sound it is making and getting really hot. Think i am on the right track?

And I got bored so i went ahead and pulled the motor. lol

I here you there
I think the most common is adjusting the rockers to tight. What methiod did you use? Are you using the stock lifters?
