do i need 02 sensors in headers?
i got a 71 camaro, im in the process of putting a 96 lt1 and 4l60e in it.. i have shortys now b/c of my side pipes. do i need to install o2 sensors for my comp to read right.also is there an electric fuel pump ya'll can recommend to go in line out of tank? im new to this site but have been a member of nastyz28.com hope u guys are as nice.
Re: do i need 02 sensors in headers?
Normaly, an O2 sensor needs to be heated to give accurate readings within its range. Older O2 sensors must be positioned as close to the ports to get heated from the exhuast charge before it cools down. The newer O2 sensors with 4 wire connectors have a built in heater so it's not critical where they're fixed.
As for the inline fuel pump, you can't go wrong with walbro.

Re: do i need 02 sensors in headers?
If you plan to use the stock 96 computer then you will need O2 sensors in the headers (as the computer uses these for closed loop control of air fuel ratio) as well as O2 sims so you don't throw a code for the back O2 sensors. You might be better off with an aftermarket computer to manage the engine.
