NO PRESSURE in the RADIATOR...what in the world?

Ok so i have my car running and today was the first time i took it on a long trip on the highway..after driving for few seconds at 80+ i noticed my temp guage going UP instead of down....it would climb from around 180ish to 193 at max....driving around town at slow speed the temp drops to low 180 high 170s....so after i got to the destination i decided to try to bleed the system, when i cracked it open no air or coolant came out of the bleeder..so i proceded to open the radiator.....there was no pressure in it at all

Car isnt overheating, i am not loosing coolant, everything seems to be working fine..what the heck is goin on, how come the temp is goin up on the highway, and most importantly why am i not seeing any pressure in the cooling system????!? i just got home from driving for 1h and was able just to open the radiator

NO LEAKS AT ALL, AIR DAM IS ON ETC ETC....running a 160 degree thermo stat for a LT1 and a Electric waterpump.....

I would check the t-stat to see if it's stuck open. I'm also wondering if something funny may be happening with the voltage to the WP...

Check the radiator cap, too.

how would that have to do with the pressure build up in the system?

if the radiator cap was bad...wouldnt i be able to hear the system leaking steam/air out somewhere?? the weird thing is..there are no abnormal noises or anything

Re: NO PRESSURE in the RADIATOR...what in the world?

Rent or buy a pressure tester and test the system and the cap. Then, you will know.

Awww, I thought you had dismissed the idea of it being the cap.

try a cap... 230 is a bit hot for on the highway, but lt1s run hot.. first fan kicks on at 226 IIRC. I highly suggust a manual fan switch

Nope. It will bleed the pressure into the overflow tank

I was referring more to the temp variance. Glad to see your problem is solved.
