Re: No oil pressure on new build

Ripped the intake off and sure enough that drive gear wasnt secured in the engine. It threw it up and knocked off a couple teeth. in the process now of ordering new parts and getting broken teeth out of oil pan. The engine builder had never done an LT1 before and was used to a distributer being there. Thanks guys. Lets just hope it isnt much more of a problem now. The gear on the cam appears to be ok by visual with a mirror and turning the engine by hand.

i would prime the engine before you put the intake on this time, since you've already cranked it for a while with no oil.

Poorest excuse I have heard in a while. Even a builder that was not used to the LT1 should have had enough common sense to find out what he did not know. I hope he did not guess on any other parts of the build.

Re: No oil pressure on new build

so basicaly he didnt put the bolt in the drive gear? or just didnt torque it? I guess everyone makes a mistake once in a while. this could have been much wrose. what if you were makein a pass at the track and that thing hapened to pop out then. the eng. would sieze before the end of the pass more then likely. glad to hear you found it anyways.
