Re: Next Mod

First find out what gears you have either 3.23 or 2.73 if they are stock. If you can manually select 1st you have 3.23, if you can only slam it down to 2nd its 2.73's. Either way, I think that the best thing to do with a Automatic would be a aftermarket torque converter. Many people gain .5 with a TC in the 1/4 mile. I would do that if you want the best 1/4 gain from your car, especially since you have a cam in there. I wouldnt do gears till after the TC. Many add shift kits with TC's to keep the shifts crisp and youll also need a Tranny Cooler to keep the temps down and give your tranny a longer life. B&M's 24,000 GVW Cooler for $50 from Summit seems to worth the best.

So simply put, I would do the Torque Converter 2800-3000RPM, Shift Kit (Transgo), and B&M Super Cooler. Sticky tires would help get you 60's down BFG Drag Radials work great. Cost of this would be $325-700 for a TC, $100 for the shift kit and $50 for the Cooler. Plus install if you cant do it yourself. So possibly under $500 for 1/2 second in the 1/4 or $2500 that might gain you .1-.2 in the 1/4.

I'd save your $2000-2500 a 12 bolt and gears it going to cost you, until you 10 bolt is shot, which it may never go at all. Plenty of folks running 11's with 10 bolts. I probably wouldnt even change my gears if I had 3.23's. 2.73's are a different story.

I am pretty sure i have 3.23. I am able to shift into first, and not be able to get out of it, and i do follow you with the TC, i was thinking of that as well.

Somethine i might want to add, i just had my transmission fully rebuilt. So basically i have a 4L60E with just under 1k miles on it. I don't think my trans will go for a while.

I do however hear my rear end whinning a little, and know that it is not long til it goes.

So TC you think huh?

My car at this point is just to the good side of the everyday rider status. Its not to rough, and i can still take it out every night for a cruise, and to a date. Will the TC stop that, and make my car to rough and uncomfortable to be driving with a passenger?

Re: Next Mod

Only when you floor it will it get silly fast on you. Other than that it will just seem like the tranny is slipping at low rpm's.

So your saying i'll get a bigger kick in the pants when shifting through gears. Is there any way i can make a switch to get it from normal, to a heavy tc. So i have an every day driver mode then a racing mode?
