new winter oil?
5W-30 is the recommended oil for the LT1.... look at your oil fill cap... look at your owners manual. They will accept an alternative of 10W-30 when the winter temps will not go to 0degF.
5W-30 isn't anything "new".... been around for years.

The Quaker State winter oil is just another gimmick, to try and snag money out of your pocket. From what I've heard, it's just regular oil with a bit more pour point depressants in it to give it a better cold cranking number.
But you'll get much better results in extreme cold if you use a fully synthetic oil.
