New times..very happy.

It was a good weekend at the track. On nittos and myself driving the car ran a new best of 14.09 @ 100.02 mph with a 2.097 60'. A good 60' for only 2:73 gears! And on regular radials and with my wife driving the car ran a best of 14.30 and on another pass a 97.97 mph. We are very pleased with how the car has performed with the very little that is done to it.

The winter plans are 3:42's, 2800 converter, 1.6 rr's, MAF translator, and the HPP programmer and 160* stat. That should easily make the car a consistent mid 13 second car. Which is were the wife wants her car to be. With any luck it will get us a low 13! Thanks for all the help here guys.

Sounds like you had fun. You might want to put some better springs on it when the 1.6 RR's go on. Also you could skip the Translator and the HPP. Let MadZ28 give you a new tune and he can set the computer for the gears and 160 stat. It will save you some money.
What tire pressure were you running in the nitto'? Were they hooking? Do you have a CAI?

another vote for skipin the hpp3 and maf translator. Get a pcm tune for $100 and buy headers and a cutout. The gears and stall will work great together. But if you go with rockers get springs too, everybody will tell you to get springs. Unless its only for a short time because you going to do a cam soon or something. The extra lift will wear them out.

Thanks for the compliments! Z-Rated, the nitto's had 23 pounds in them on that pass and yes they did hook. No wheel spin at all. On the next pass we tried 20 pounds but my 60' went up to a 2.1XX and the mph went down to a 99.XX. On the other question, no we don't have a CAI. And right now there are no plans for one because my wife wants a SS hood and airbox setup. So until we can afford that, the stock air intake will have to do. And finally, what kind of springs would you recommend with the 1.6's? I was thinking of getting the GMPP 1.6's, so maybe I could just get the springs to match them. What do ya think?

Forgot one thing. We already have a hpp3 and 160* stat. We just haven't installed them yet. I was going to at the track this past weekend but with the risk of killing the battery while programming I figured I would pass until I was home and had a proper battery charger. Also, why pass on the MAF translator? Two friends have them on their LS1's and with some VERY simple adjustments they dropped 3 tenths and gained a couple mph. Again I'm new to the LT1 world. I know with my '88 GTA you need to get the pcm burned to see any real gains but I thought with the LT1's you could "adjust" things yourself and see some good gains. Or is it like a thirdgen and you are better off getting custom programming?? Thanks!

I can attest that the Hpp3 is a waste. It only helped program my gears and thermo. All the other tuning, such as the power tuning, is a joke. haven't tried messing with the shift points yet though (don't want to mess anything up). I'm just glad it came with my car and I didn't have to spend $300 on it.

Yeah, I sold my HPP right after I got my custom tuning. The custom tuning is so much better. Go with 3.73 gears, that should drop your et about 4 tenths right there. Long tubes and a cutout, and you'll get your mid 13, with that stall and custom tuning, you'll probably be real close, if not in the 12's. That 160* helps alot too, or atleast I thought it did.

We have considered LT's and a y-pipe as well. We just don't know how long we will be hanging onto this car and don't want to sink too much money into it.

LPE Z - the color of the top is black. Red car, black top, grey cloth.
