New starter, car still won't start

Hey guys, I just got back from vacation, my car was sitting for 10 days, before I left it started and drove fine. Well when I went to start it, it sounded like the starter was dead, it was making a whurring sound. So today I got a new LT4 starter and put it in, I also fixed a ground wire that I noticed had come loose, right by the starter. Well I went to start it and it would not start. It sounds like the starter is spinning but the motor won't crank over. I'm sort of stumped and not sure what to do.

The only thing I can think of is, on the starter the power wire didn't line up correctly, it is supposed to go around the screw and it has a piece that sticks down, but the piece that sticks down didn't fit into the hole it was supposed to.

Does anyone have any ideas, or similar expireiences?? Any help or opinions appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm not an expert on things like this. But I know that being a new starter -not the original one- that perhaps is a shimming issue.

Check your battery terminals and maybe clean them, this happened to me (I still had power, just not enough juice to crank it over),
Also, double check that ground wire you tightened!
Goodluck, let us know.

If the starter spins and the engine don't, the drive is not engaging.Does it make any grinding noise? The drive may not be extending.

Whoa, I feel like an idiot, turned out the battery was dead. Oh well, I'm not mad, at least I leanred something. And I got a cooler sounding starter out of it.
