New oil pump necessary with H/C?

Going to be doing the LE2 very shortly and was wondering if I should replace my oil pump for extra insurance on spun bearings. I see in all the threads I searched that its recommened to get a stock replacement or melling M55A with the white spring. But no where does it say when you actually need to replace the pump. Right now my warm oil pressure is at the 20psi mark but if i run the car hard it sits half way between that line and the red line. The oil pressure rises good with the rpms and sits at about the half way mark at redline because it drops, but that seems to be the norm when searching around.

Ya, it might not hurt, just depending on the miles that are on it. And it'd be good insurance and peace of mind.

Absolutely unnecessary. I would imagine that spun bearing issues would stem from debris/dirt getting into the engine during the heads and cam swap.
