New Muffler silent with cut-out??

Hi i was wondering if it was worth getting a silent muffler with cut-out or just get a high flow muffler and still have the cut out. The problem is my old edelbrok broke a weld and i already had a cut-out which net me about 15rwhp. Would it be better to get a silent muffler that would restrict power but whenever i'm going to need that power i just flip the switch for cut-out. I just want to be able to drive normally around cops. And know i'm planning and building a 396 NA motor so it might be even louder. It's a 3" right now with no cats and LT headers. If it would be good enough to go with a silent muffler then switch to cutout what kind of muffler should i look at?

I got the Maganflow mated up with my long tubes and its hard to tell I have headers. On a flip side, I dont' attract attention from cops. I do plan on installing a cutout shortly though so I can go from mild to wild at will.

I just did something similar on mine. I used a stock WS6 catback on mine and it cut down a lot on noise. Im very happy doing it like that. i too have E cutouts on the Y pipe.

I would say the only way to get away without being noticed is to stick to a stock like restricting catback. I have Longtubes, Y pipe, no cats, and a GM847 cam with ported heads. When I had my stock exhaust on there you couldnt even tell I had a cam. I now have a home made 3" custom hooker catback and its decently loud. I was just running a bullet muffler before and it was LOUD! So this is a nice compromise. In the cab its not horrible, but very noticable and outside anyone within 10 feet will be able to tell I am not stock.
