I have completed the LE3/383 new setup and have been test driving to work out the bugs. The car had some valve train clatter for awhile and i thought this noise was coming from that. I adjusted the rocker arms last night and got most of that cleared up but now am hearing this other noise alot better. It kinda sounds like a piston is making a clunking/clicking sound. But you can hear it on either side of the motor. If you put a stethoscope on the inside front corner of each valve cover you can hear it, almost like it's coming from the timing chain area. It is a weird noise and i have had a couple people listen to it and nobody seems to know. Thanks for any help.

 

Ok just figured it out, it was actually the crank hitting the bottom of the oil pan in the very front probabally the very first counter weight on the crank. So guess i am going to learn how to drop the k-member down to get that oil pan out haha
