I'm curious about this new timing set, is it supposed to handle more rpm than stock, or is it just the same as stock. I"m waiting for someone to come out with a cheap high performance unit like the extreme heavy duty Gm unit. Just can't pull myself to put an electric pump on my daily driver, and paying 300 bucks for a timing set gives me a headache, so either way I'm SOL

Actually Summit is getting very involved with our cars lately. A lot of the guys that work there are buying F-bods and one of their employees is a member here. Scott has introduced quite a bit to the Summit team and is very instrumental in working with outside vendors to create new parts for our cars. Also, I believe Scott handled the y-pipe deal and CantonRacer provided his y-pipe to them so that it could be copied. All in all the future looks real good for us.

Thanks . I like the feed back. Sorry about some of the tech guys not knowing what I think they should. In their defense, they all have to be familiar with 400+ manufacturers, imports, trucks (lifted or lowered), mustangs, LT1/LS1/TPI, Carbs, Mopars....etc. I worked phone sales for 2 years before transferring to the catalog end of things. It's amazing how much stuff you have to fumble through.

Talk to Sly @ ext. 6745 (maybe 6746). He is up on some stuff, very thorough, and he's a good friend of mine. If he doesn't know, he'll put you on hold and ask me. If I don't know, I'll put him on hold and find out. Tell him Scott told you to call, and if he gives you ****, let me know and I'll bribe him with honey brown.

The timing chain is a single roller, OE type. I will find out about years for certain. Lunati is a division of Holley, so it can be difficult sometimes to get info. If someone has that set, let me know what you think.

The water pump is very similar to the mezier. It flows more than enough to work on the street. It looks like a good piece (it's made by CVR). And for 179 it's less than a GM replacement (last I checked they were around $200).

Thanks again. I am constantly working on that section, and am always open to feedback.

By the way, we carry GM Performance now, but I could't get into the catalog for this issue. We hjave the LT1-LT4 conversions, as well as the heads and intakes.

That stroker is supposed to be around 420, but they haven't dynoed it yet. Recon is waiting on heads, so they will be dynoed and shipped within two weeks. I had to beg them to build it...

Hey there buddy didn't know ya was watchin. Got my converter installed, headers next but tomorrow i'm going to see Dr. Kavorkian and getting the big V surgery (Think Nether regions). I'll be at home resting uncomfortably on the couch while Jason and Waz probably go to the track. I could throw a bag of frozed peas on my crotch and go but I'd probably regret it

At any rate, I'll talk at you later. Email me, my internet finally has come back after being lost for 3 days. Ugggh, damn time warner!!!

SCOTT!! glad to hear someone's pulling for us out there!!!!

it's sick, mustangs get like 5-6 pages and we get 2-3. it's not that the stuff isn't being made, they just don't show in the catalogs. of course, i guess mustangs might need a bigger section...hehe.

anyway cool beans, hey i've never dealt with CS. there, i have a brand new summit radiater i never installed cuz it turned out to be way smaller than anticipated. now it's sat in the garage for 2 years. too small for anything but a 4 banger, it's labled a "drag race" radiator. think they'll take it back?? LOL
damn, should've checked the sizing.

Sorry to hear about the surgery, dude. Snip, snip. All that GM Performance stuff hasn't been loaded on the internet yet. You should be able to get a price if you call. We probably don't have it on the shelf yet, but our supplier is thrity minutes from our warehouse, so we can get it in a day or two.

I know, Mustangs get more pages, but hey, they need more parts to run with a stock F Bod.

The 383 is not emissions legal. That doesn't mean it won't pass, but it is illegal. I don't know any emssions inspector that can tell an engine has 1/4" more stroke in the crank by looking at it.

Thanks
Scott

I was just checking out the latest issue last night. I always turn right to the LT1 section to see what's new, it's great to see that section get bigger all the time I didn't see the LT1 stroker motor though, I'll have to check that out tonight. How much $$$ ?

Scott, I want to thank you too for helping us out with the LT1 section in the catalog. We all really appreciate it.

I saw the 383 LT1 recon crate engine last night.... Is that set up for the Optispark stock style distributor, and a fuel injection setup? Or will it be normal intake manifold, distributor on top, and carbuerated?

It will be for a Optispark, with Fuel injection. It's a long block assembly, so you'll have to come up with the front cover, distributor, intake manifold, fuel injection, and water pump.

For anyone who would want to make that engine carbed, we have the GM Performance LT1 4 barrel manifold. You would still need to run the computer for the distributor, or run a programmable ignition box like msd digital 7 programmable.

It retails for 5999, and should make around 420Hp.

Thank you for using the section. I had to pull some teeth to get it put togther (big boat, small rudder), but now that we have shown not only Summit, but the industry, that late model GM is a viable niche market, I expect to see a lot of new products. Thanks for all of your help.

Sounds like you got a scirocco race radiator. It's designed for rail cars, but it wouldn't live on the street for anymore than 20 minutes. Typically, the return policy is 90 days, but give service a call. Be friendly, and they may take it back and give you a pro rated refund, especially if it is in new condition without having coolant run through it.

You may also want to e-bay it. I've seen those little rail radiators go for several hundred $$$.

Thanks

Scott
