New Ignition Components And LT1 Still Dies

re: New Ignition Components And LT1 Still Dies
Alright, the new O’reilly’s distributor has about 100 miles on it and the car is running great. I noticed another code pop up, P1371. It must be a stored code since the car is still running and the I noticed the code while it was running. Does this mean the opti is bad and the car is about to start dying again? So right now it has P0336, P1371, and two exhaust codes.

When you installed the new Opti, did it come w/ a new harness built in, or did you use your original short harness, and just plug it in? No matter which, did you inspect all harness connectors for corrosion, damaged pins and check the wires for missing insulation?

I installed the new harness that came with it. I didn’t inspect the larger end but I did inspect the end that plugs straight into the opti and it seems okay by visual inspection.

Parts house Opti's can be faulty right out of the box.
Check the Opti harness connector on the bracket in the middle of the intake manifold.
I've seen the P1371 code set on startup, when it takes an extra second or two for the PCM to find the low resolution signal. Clear it and see how soon it comes back.
As far as P0336, is it possible you have a plug wire running in parallel with the CKP sensor harness wires, or the Opti harness wires? Another possibility is a loose CKP reluctor wheel on the crank, or the reluctor hitting the timing cover.

I won’t get back out to the car tonight, but I will say that I cleared the codes before a startup earlier and then drove it for about 15 minutes. Started it up again and drove for another 10 minutes and the P1371 hasn’t come back on yet. The P0336 did though. When I replaced the ckp sensor none of the wires seemed crossed or anything like that. There was some oil on the connector where the old sensor was leaking oil but that’s all.
