New fuel pump,quit starting

Replaced the pump yesterday and was OK. This morning it started
after pushing the gas to the floor. Now it won't start at all. Car
is turning over fine, just no start. Could the fuel pump
relay gone bad?

Did you check the fuel pressure? Can you hear the pump prime for 2 seconds after you turn the key to "run"? Did you try using the fuel pump prime connector to run the pump?

I would check to see if you didn't happen to get one of the hoses on tight enough or a wire on tight enough and one of them came unhooked. The hoses if aren't on all the way can easily come off... Happened to one of my friends camaros a while back.

Not got a chance to check the pressure. I'm at work and
had to have her towed to the house. I don't recall hearing
a prime noise. I do know since I replaced the pump, when
I got gas it released pressure when I removed the cap,the old one did not.Ill check the pressure and Jump the prime connector tonight.

As for something coming loose, that would be great. I did the access panel mod a month
Ago just for the replacement,so it won't take much to see.

(1)Borrowed a pump relay from a buddy and still didn't work.
(2)Jumped the prime pump wire underneath hood and still was no sound.
(3)Checked the gray voltage wire at the pump with the ignition on,showed 12v for 2 seconds.I will remove the assembly tomorrow to see if anything has come undone underneath.

Anything else I should maybe check or am I headed in the right direction? Thanks

Seem to be heading in the right direction smart decision on the access panel as thats cheapest and easiest way to do it...
You might also check the fuse on it as well... It is possible that could have blown. But with you just replacing it i would def. check your hoses once you get a chance... Sucks you had to have it towed...

Yeah, I did not like seeing my car on the back of the rollback.

I believe I found the problem. I took out the assembly and jumped the pump from the battery and it would work for a second then quit. I started to wiggle the connector to the pump and it worked again. Wiggled the connector some more and it stopped and vice versa.Just got to see how to secure that connector a little better.Zip tie maybe?

Which connector.... the in-tank connector for the pump, or the external pump/level sensor connector?

Re: New fuel pump,quit starting

I replaced the spade terminals of the connector with my own and they are tight and car is back running again. I'm at 39-40 psi at idle.
