New Engine - Switch to Synth. Oil
yo
when using assembly lube, your supposed to change your oil within 30 mins. of run time. After that, you should change it after 100, then again after 400+. Look at it this way, if you built the engine you probably had it in the open at least once or twice exposing it to the natural dust in the air (we inhale about 3teaspoons each day, or tbl spoons, one of the two) and its probably got tons of assembly lube. So lets see, you just dropped probably over $2000+ on your new engine and your worried about buying 20 dollars of oil, personaly i'll spend the money, change the oil more often and not worry about crap running through my nicely fresh built motor. Then after I've put about 2000+ i'll make the switch.
Just a factoid that you might be interested in...
VW uses synthetic in their VR6 engine, but they put in an additive for the break-in period, and they tell you not to change out until 7500 miles, regardless of the use you are putting the vehicle to.
I'm not sure if GM does anything similar in the Vette.
