New Engine Break-in concerns

A few months ago I was having some coolant leaking into my heads. I did the usual tests and figured it was a bad head gasket. I then decided since my car has over 160k, it was time to rebuild it. 2.5 months and whole lot of $$$ later, I have what appears to be coolant leaking into my heads.

I've just started it up for the 1st time, trying to do the break in. The motor fired right up, but then white smoke started to billow out the tailpipes. After about 10 minutes, I couldn't stand it any longer. The smoke was so much and so thick that I was in fear of suffocating myself, and I was even outside!!!

I drained the oil and the last part was really thin, like water. I pulled the can out after all of the "oil" had drained and there's definitely something on top of the oil. I've never broke in a motor before, but I'm sure this is not the way it's supposed to be. The machinist assembled the entire engine, from oil pan all the way up to intake.

Anyone have any clues before I go head hunting?!

Get a cooling system pressure tester and pressure test the cooling system. Autozone.

EDIT: Get the machinist who done the work to repair it....he didn't put something together right if it's doing this....hope his work comes with a warranty.

I definitely have a phone call to make in the morning. I'm just verifying that this is an engine issue and not something I could have done. I want to be able to deflect any BS he tries to throw my way. The motor came with a 12 mos 12,000 mile warranty. At this point, the only thing I could have screwed up is the TB coolant lines, and I would really have had to try to screw that up.

If i remember right when i had coolant in the oil it was on the bottom of the pan and drained out first and then was just oil. I would get the car to him and let him figure it out. I would not drive it if it is this bad unless he's real close.

So, I went and pulled the spark plugs and when I got to cylinder #7, gas just poured out. It turns out that one of my injectors was stuck open. This really pisses me off, because not only did I just get the injectors back from Street and Performance after being flow matched and screened, but it was the initial cause to my entire engine rebuild. I would never have guessed it was a bad injector. I suppose I should have known when those bastards didn't give me any flow numbers.

It looks my old motor didn't have a good enough seal to hold the gas in the cylinder. So, when I pulled the plugs nothing came out. The oil looked bad. I didn't know what oil and gas look like when it has been mixed. Next time, I'll pay more attention. Oh well, now I'm out to get this thing dyno tuned.

After you get everything sorted out make sure to do a compression and leakdown test. You may have damaged that cylinder by washing out the rings (all the gas cleans the oil offf of the cylinder wall and destroys the rings)
