Which timeing set?

Alright guys im building a forged blower motor and am wondering what would be the best timing set for this build. Also how much is the stock crank rated for? Just wondering.

Answer depends on year, type of opti and water pump.

You are prettly much stuck with a stock set, then.

That's the truth. Get an electric wp and you can go to a Cloyes Double Roller timing chain.

I have been told that the stock crank is good to around 500fwhp, NA. Not sure if you can throw a lot of nitrous at it because it is cast, but a little nitrous is probably ok.

He would need a lot more than an electric water pump (like an opti conversion). It's the non-vented opti that is the limiting factor in the timing gear set selection.

I'm building a blower motor for around 13-15 psi i can get a forged crank but ill have to save me some moneys. So far i have je forged -31 cc pistons, Eagle esp h beams. I would like to see almost 600 rwhp but thats being optimistic. I have most other supporting mods for around 650 hp. so im building my motor. Ive toyed the idea of an electric water pump around but i don't want to lose my reliability. So i don't know as of now. What do y'all think?

I did a 97SS 383 D1 M6. Did a Mezz WP option. Did not like the WP drive system and the seal that leaks alot. I did a GM LT4 timing chain option before the Electric mod, but, I would now do the Cloyes after market. I still run the vented opti with my own mods to the rotor to run MSD ign parts. I recc the Pioneer keyed hub available from Thunder racing. B.

If the pics are accurate for the Lunati set, it is stamped with the normal GM part numbers. You could just buy the GM pieces for less.

You can pick up a few horses and eliminate the opportunity for an oil leak by going electric W/P. I used a Cloyes 3157 true roller. It fits perfectly (no grinding) is very tight, and has very large, strong rollers. I think it was around a hundred bucks.

I just had the hole for the W/P drive welded up. The guy charged $20.00.

Another advantage is that if your water pump ever goes bad it won't destroy the non-vented opti.
