best indicator is trap speed. that doesn't lie. dyno's can be influenced by a lot of variables.

I think we need whatever your smoking

Bro...in my 1997 A4 Z28 with CAI, Cutout, 160 Stat, and Airfoil...I pulled 261rwhp $ 291rwtq

Now in my 1997 M6 Z28 with CAI, Cutout, 160 Stat, and Airfoil (I took the same exact pieces off of my A4 and through it on my M6 (except the cutout)...I pulled 271 rwhp & 304 rwtq

From my experience with both the same year Z28...A4 and an M6...these numbers seem exactltly the same to me giving ones from an A4 and ones from an M6......make sense to you yet?

And just for the record....In the A4 I ran a 13.64 @ 100 (almost 101) w/ a 2.06 60' with the mods I had on the dyno.
In the M6...I ran a 13.64 @ 102 w/ a 2.1X 60'...same mods as I did on the dyno.....so there goes a couple trap speeds for the dyno numbers too

Whats your 97 SS pull with all your mods that makes you unhappy to see our numbers with such little mods?

Could be right on with those numbers. Are those corrected values?

Bubba, why the doubt? My car dyno'd 260 RWHP with a muffler. No other mods. No free mods, nothing. 270 rwhp with a cutout. I have no rr, no coolant bypass, no cai, nothing. Dirty air filter and 10K on the oil. 187K miles on the motor. Car weighs 3385 without me, I am 400. Ran a 13.8 @ 101 with cutout closed on slipping clutch. I sure as hell better pick up 30 rwhp with LTs and a CAI. I put them on already, but I have an oil leak, so I was gonna go ahead and tear the motor down and do a cam. Guess I will wait and take the car to the dyno first. If this car doesn't gain 30RWHP for $600, I'm sellin it. OTOH, if they dyno 242 stock, I picked up almost 30 rwhp from a POS flowmaster muffler! Damn, these things respond.

those numbers look right to me man. with just SLP Loudmouth cat-back at 86K miles I made 280rwhp/312rwtq on a Dynojet. It was running with unnamed plugs and a brittle #7 plug wire. Who knows if that hurt, but it certainly didnt help.

I've seen 26rwhp peak gains from the SLP mid-length headers (on an A4) and at least that much from Hooker LTs.

I dyno'd at 284hp/323tq the first time I did it. Had only put on pullies, synthetic oils, and K&N.
Bubba, you should be at least in the 320's for rwhp I would think.

My 93 made 256RWHP 294RWTQ, ran a 9.1@78, 2.25 sixty on a hot day with a bad fuel filter and a hot temp (Fans did not work right)

Ram Air (if thats what you want to call it on SS cars, more like Z-air) benefits from velocity; air being shoved into it at a high rate of speed. on a dyno, you aren't moving...even if they're blowing large fans at the car, it's no replacement for 100mph winds created by your accelerator pedal.

People seemed suprised to see bolt on LT1's at 300rwhp. Yes of course if all LT1's dynoed 240rwhp, 300rwhp would seem a bit high. But the only LT1's ive seen dyno 240rwhp are a4's, bone stock and not running so good. Heres the numbers on my car.

Stock= I dynoed 250rwhp

W/cutout only on stock exhaust i dynoed 262 rwhp

Electric h20 pump, cutout, i dynoed 268rwhp

Electric h20 pump, cutout, CAI i dynoed 275rwhp

electric h20 pump, cutout, cai, hooker longtubes w/custom y-pipe i ran 307rwhp 333tq

Tons of people have seen 25-30rwhp gain from switching crappy stock exhaust manifolds and small *** stock y-pipe to Longtubes and y-pipe to match.

Like i said before........nice numbers. Dead on for bolt on LT1's.

96 TA's were rated 285hp, 97 SS rated 305hp. Only reason the SS is rated higher is because of a little more free flowing exhaust and the ram air. Take away the ram air because it doesnt count on the dyno because the car isnt moving therefore no ram air. Now your at 295hp with just the "just a tad better flowing catback" that comes with the SS. Thats only 10 more hp. Which only comes out to 5rwhp on the dyno difference from the SS and the TA.

Tons of SS and ws6 LT1s have dynoed the same rwhp numbers as stock 95 or any year LT1 TA or Z28 has. Thats the reason he said the fact that its an "SS" really doesnt make a difference. There are no changes in the engine.
