New Dyno Numbers

I just got my 96 Trans Am WS6 dyno tuned yesterday at Nitro Dave's in Waco, Tx. The number were only 297rwhp and 321rwtq. I have fully ported and polished heads flowing 276 intake and 198 exhaust w. a 1.56 exhaust and 2.00 intake, a port-matched intake, edelbrock shorties, and comp xe268H-10 comp w/ duration 224/230 w/ 110 lobe sep.. How do these numners look compared to these mods. I still have the stock trottle body and stcok exhaust w/ flomaster muffler. How much more power do you think could be gained w/ a 52 mm throttle body, LT headers, and full catback? Thanks.

before adding anything, id figure out whats wrong with your car

did you dyno in the wrong gear?

with heads and cam, you should be atleast 350+.

unless this was a mustang dyno......do you know if it was a mustang or dynojet?

The numbers are definately pretty low for a heads/cam car. The car must have some problems to be putting down less than 300rwhp with those mods. Usually when you put down numbers that are way off like yours are there is something wrong with the car. I would try to find out what is going on rather than throwing more parts at it. I put down less than I expected and I finally have my problem figured out, I hope. Now I just need to fix it.

i would say ditch that exhaust get youreself some headers and cat back including a new y-pipe.depending on the milege of the car itself since it has the stock exhaust those cats might be starting to clog, which will def suck down your hp #s with all the mods you have.

Looks a bit low. Something is holding you back. A set of headers couldn't hurt. Maybe your cat is all clogged up? And a dyno tune ot finish it off...

You would totally be wasting your money to get a throttle body with your mods. My car made 345 rwhp with the stock throttle body, LT4 hot cam, 1.6 rollers, hooker short tubes, borla, and ECM tuning. Prior to the ECM tuning it made 325 rwhp. Something is definitely wrong with your car. Ignition, wires, opti, or a clogged cat would be a good place to start.

get rid of that stock exhaust and crapmaster. call bryan over at pcmforless to tune it. come back with a HUGE post!!! just guessing of course. i still have to take mine to the dyno. at least you know where your at. LT's vs shorties / mids is a huge debate so until you see hard dyno or track numbers i wouldnt do it. full cat back absolutely (did i mention get rid of the a$$master muffler yet). the 52mm is also debateable. i did it and my butt-o-meter said it was worth every penny. i also put the TB in with the lt4 KM so i cant say for sure the TB was worth anything. it could have been all KM. there are guys running some big numbers here with stock maf and stock TB. good luck.

The numbers are definately low. I made my dyno runs
on a Superflow and had 298 rwhp with the 3" cat-back
Flowmaster setup and 310 rwhp with 2.5" true duals.
I'm not sure what to recommend. It could be a bunch
of little things that add up to 40-50 horsepower. As you
can see from other posts, with a cam and a custome tune
you can pick up 15-30 rwhp. I'm stock so advantages
from a tune would probably be a lot less.

Wrong....

It was a dynojet dyno and I gained 33 hp and 22 lbft/tq after the tuning. Any ideas on what could be holding me at such a low point. Would the cheapest option be to get hooker long tubes and true duals or a modest catback? Thanks. And I will have pics of the graph soon.

I got hooker long tubes for my 94 Z for sale! idk if they'd work on a 96 though. they're not emissions legal(like it matters)

I got stock heads and make 350rwhp with a cc306. I run crappy Hooker shorties with stock catback and a Flowmaster muff.

Something is wrong.

how many plug wires were pulled, that looks like numbers that could be put down on 6 of 8 cylinders with your mod list
do you have the power and A/F graph you can post?

Dyno Graph

I am still at a loss at where to start looking for any reasons for the low numbers. It threw no codes and had no probs on the dyno. On the drive after, threw a code for dead O2 sensor, no biggie. Let me know what yall think. Its an M6 car, pulls in 4th gear. How do I post the pic?

Here is a really big thing for you to consider, get a set of LT's. Edlebrock shorties are the worst shorties available.
