The original stock coil seemed to work fine on my 733rwhp setup last year. I replaced it with the one from Accel 'cause I like the color of the Accel, not because it was malfunctioning or because I think it will work any better.

I have to admit i never saw a coil as an appearance item.:-)
I'm using a MSD. I did have to drill out the rivets for the stock coil. No big deal. I painted the body of the coil black so it looks stock.

I would think more ohms would mean more coils. But then again they usually add coils to the priamry side since it has much more effect on a coils outpot.

What is the resistance of the stock coil?

96/97 cars have good coils already, thats why they don't include them in the ignition kits. Mine's stock, thats all u need.

What I meant was that since they would all work the same (IMHO) why not pick one that would add a little color to my drab engine compartment! That yellow is kind of eye catching. MSD red isn't bad either. BTW: these coils look suspiciously alike.

The primary side of the coil will have less resistance that the secondary side of the coil. The primary side of the coil is where the "input" voltage is applied from the ignition. The secondary side of the coil is where the output voltage is. That side will have more windings, and it will offer more resistance. Either way though, the resistance should not be that high, maybe only in the thousands. If you get into the tens of thousands, then you have a problem.

New question for this.

Bought a coil, stocker is rivoted or whatever to the bracket that bolts to car. How do I remove the stocker so that I can replace it? What tools etc. I just don't want to screw up the bracket and have to buy that too!

You can drill the rivets out, or you can take a chisel to one end, and tap it through. I did the latter, and it worked fine.

Well, car has a slight stumbly feel to it. Changed all plugs and wires and opti seems to perform OK (has about 30K miles on it). The coil has over 160K miles on it; and I've already spent the money.

And beer...hey, who works on their car without drinking beer anyway?!
